About Roland Wimmer

Austrian sculptor and artist working in various genres. Currently, he is creating the series “Theater Backstage.” The first portrait, of the Austrian actor Christoph Luser, will be on display throughout August at 1Blick Hallein as part of the annual theme “Fire and Flame.” In 2023, he exhibited the series “The Art of Forgetting” at Shakespeare Salzburg, which was opened by Salzburg Mayor Bernhard Auinger. The series' theme is a comparison of past and present war crimes. It juxtaposes deported Roma and Sinti from the Weyer camp with contemporary war crimes and terrorist attacks and their victims. The images leave a harrowing impression of the massive loss of life and future knowledge. His training began at the sculpture school in Hallein. Worked in wood, stone, and metal; photography; film; multi-instrumentalist; tattoo artist; studio musician; sound engineer; Stage manager... He was born in Salzburg in 1978 and developed an interest in drawing and painting at a young age. From 1995 to 1999, he completed his studies at the sculpture school in Hallein. He also trained in photography. During this time, he worked as a props assistant at the Salzburg Festival during the summer. He founded several music projects with various artists. In 2025, he worked as a model for the design company Kiska. From 2006 to 2022, he worked as a stagehand at the Salzburg State Theatre, where he also completed his stage manager training at the Austrian Theatre Academy (ÖTHG) in Vienna. In 2017, he completed his training as a tattoo artist.
